When we say “WhatsApp has been blocked”, it can mean two completely different scenarios — and it depends on how exactly to solve the problem. And the thing is – we all want to Unblock WhatsApp if it is blocked.

Therefore, today it is important to understand that blocking is not a “bolt from the blue”, but a completely predictable risk that you can prepare for.

Types of WhatsApp Blocks: Personal and Mass Restriction

A personal ban is a pinpoint strike. Blocked WhatsApp disables only your phone number, but the app continues to work for everyone else. This is usually due to a violation of the user agreement. The symptoms are obvious:

• A message appears like “Your number is blocked in WhatsApp. Contact support.”
• The app immediately stops sending and receiving messages.
• An attempt to log in with this number on another device returns the same error.

Mass blocking is already “carpet bombing”. Access to WhatsApp servers is blocked by entire providers or at the country level. Then:

When WhatsApp stops working not only for you, but for thousands or millions of people at once, this is already a story about blocking at the network level. The reasons can be different — from politics to “subtle” technical filters.

   • A VPN creates an encrypted “tunnel” between you and the remote server. The provider sees only the fact of the connection, but not what is inside.

3. Encrypted DNS (DoH/DoT).
   • DoH (DNS over HTTPS) and DoT (DNS over TLS) encrypt requests, preventing the PROVIDER from spoofing responses.
   • On Android: in the network settings → “Personal DNS” → enter the address of the service (for example, dns.google or 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com ).
   • On iOS: Use a configuration profile with DoH/DoT support or applications from Cloudflare/Google.

Important: changing DNS will only help with blocking at the resolver level. If access to WhatsApp’s IP is blocked directly, you will have to combine this method with a VPN or proxy. To unblock WhatsApp it may be not enough.

Tor And Alternative Connection Methods to Unblock WhatsApp

Tor is not just a browser with a black background, but a whole network of routers through which traffic can be “dragged” by masking its route.

1. Tor with bridges to bypass hard locks.
   • In some countries, the addresses of all public Tor nodes are blacklisted.
   • Bridges are hidden entrance nodes whose addresses are not published. They can be requested via the Tor Project website or by email.

   • It is better to use Tor to send messages, but not for online communications.
3. Using third-party messengers with integration into the WhatsApp API.
   • There are clients and services that allow you to read and send WhatsApp messages through their servers.
   • They can work even in blocked countries if the service itself is not blacklisted.
   • Disadvantage: you give your data to a third-party platform, which reduces privacy.

Personal WhatsApp Ban Prevention

A WhatsApp account ban is almost always a story about the user’s own actions. The good news is that most of these situations can be prevented if you change your habits a bit.

1. Avoid suspicious activity.
   • Mass mailings, even if it is “good morning” to all contacts, can be considered spam by algorithms. Especially if the recipients have not added you to the contact list.
   • Changing SIM cards or phone numbers too often is also a red flag. For the system, it looks like an attempt to bypass the lock or conduct anonymous activity.
2. Do not use modified versions of the application.
   • GBWhatsApp, WhatsApp Plus and the like may be tempting because of the “secret” features, but WhatsApp sees them as a violation of the rules.
   • Moreover, such applications often run through third-party servers, which puts your personal data at risk.
3. Set up two-factor authentication.
   • This is protection against the fact that your number will be stolen or your account will be “hijacked” through re-registration.
